Boating Campout

This past weekend we decided to have a campout on our boats with some friends.
I don't take near as many pictures as I should when we are on the boat lately, so please excuse most of these being iPhone pics. At least the memories were captured, right? ;)

Heading down the dock
Bedtime is always a bit of a struggle with Bentley when we are on the boat. He doesn't want to miss a thing, and considering he can hear and pretty much see us no matter where we are on the boat, its hard for him to wind down. So we hang towels to cover windows and doors, and usually put a movie in. It works, it just takes a while. I decided to lay with him Saturday night, but it didn't help. He stood by the door and cried, saying "help me boat, help me!" because he wanted out. :)
Both boys sleep really well on the boat, considering it isn't their typical sleeping environment. Harrison woke up in the night to eat, (which is rare these days) & Bentley woke up too, so we sat up and had a little family party at 4 am. We read some books and had a tickle party and were all back asleep at 5, only after Bentley took roll call to make sure no one had left the boat when the lights went out! "Mommy, Daddy, Baby...Gotbee?" Yes buddy, we are all still here! :)
Harrison is a natural born boater. Then again, not much phases him in general. He slept like a champ and woke up happy as can be in the morning!
Peeking out in the morning to make sure we were still where we should be...

On our way home Sunday Bentley fell asleep on my lap. When we got in the channel I got up to start packing up and putting things away. He acted like he was going to wake up and watch boats coming through the channel, and about two seconds later I found this.
Another successful weekend of boating in the books! :)
We don't want summer to end!!!

Catching Up

Life is busy lately, so bear with me while I catch up on what we've been up to! :)

Starting with last weekend...
Saturday was another fun day on the boat.
Harry got to try out his new moses basket.
Sunday, we relaxed at home.
Monday was some fun and brother time and G&G's house.
Tuesday, Bentley and I had date day to the fair.
Our babysitter's boyfriend is part of the local 4-H board, so Bentley go to touch and hold a lot of animals, which he LOVED!
We rode a few rides...
&& met a cowboy on the train! ;)
I think date day was a success!
And I caught up on some snuggles with Harrison while Bentley finished his nap.

Wednesday we saw planes - Bentley's newest favorite thing
Thursday we attempted street performers but caught in the rain, so we came back home to relax instead.
&& Friday we found Froggy, while cleaning the garage. We put him in a bucket and released him in the pond. We hope you like your new home, Froggy! :)

Finally a Rainy Day!

After far to many days of excessive heat, and no rain, we welcomed a rainy day in these parts!
It started by sleeping in. Actually, both boys were up earlier than normal, but I didn't get up before them, I let them wake me. It's hard for me to get up any earlier than I have to, especially when it's raining, so I took the rain as an opportunity to get a little extra shut eye.
We relaxed all morning and spent time playing trucks and cooing at Harrison. Then we ran a few errands, had lunch and enjoyed naptime.
We practiced our "jumps" so we would be ready for swimming off the boat this weekend...
&& we (I) completed a few outstanding projects while the boys napped.
Their newborn pictures are finally hung in the nursery

& I added some touches to the moses basket I ordered for Harrison, to make it "his own".
And we enjoyed a big bowl of ice cream together. It was the perfect night cap to our rainy day!

Harrison's Baptism

Sunday we had the privelage of making the commitment as parents, with the help of our church family & friends, to dedicate Harrison as a child of God. And to do our best to raise him as a God fearing and believing young man.

Jesus loves you, Harrison Lee.
We can't wait to see how God uses you to do his work as you grow up into a young man in his Kingdom. We are so proud of you already! xo

two[[2]]months[[hlp]]

Harrison Lee -
Two months doesn't sound like a very long time, but looking back, it feels like you have been with us for much longer. You have completed our little family, and you seem to finding your place just perfectly.
You remain my angel baby. You hardly cry. Like ever. When you are hungry you let out more of a whine/wimper. Only maybe three or four times have you actually cried to the point of little baby tears, and I dare say twice it was because I had to suck your nose. You don't love this.
Other than that though, there is not much that ruffles your feathers. Most of the time you are very content just hanging out either on the floor watching your brother play, in your swing or on my chest in the moby wrap. You love to be held. And I love to hold you. But, you are starting to fuss, just to be held. Daddy says I must stop, I say it's a good thing Daddy isn't home all day with us! ;)

Sometimes you can be a bit too laid back. (please, mommies of tough babies, don't take this as a complaint!) You are content just eating a few ounces here and there, just enough to keep your tummy from grumbling. This is a struggle for this mommy who likes to run on a pretty tight schedule, beacuse, well, sometimes you make it three hours, and sometimes it only a half hour. Hard to get on a schedule like that, little one. When you eat good, you are eating 4-5 ounces (again, if I can get to you to take that much).
At this age I believe your brother was on a consistent schedule, but having him in daycare, they pretty much did that for me. I would much rather forgo the help of a schedule from daycare to be home with you boys.

You pretty much sleep through the night already (as was your brother, at this age). We put you in your crib after your 9pm feeding and you usually don't wake up until 430-5am or so, eat, and go back down till about 8 or so. You are taking one big nap during the day right now, while brother does. You still take cat naps between feedings but in the afternoon is your main naptime. You are wearing 0-3 and 3 month clothes, and size 1 diapers. You are getting pretty chubby so I am sure it won't be long before you are in 3-6 month clothes as well.
You are starting to smile and coo when we talk to you. I forgot how much I love this stage. When you are awake you are very alert and want to be able to look around and see what is going on. You like to stare at the lights and fans, and your brother loves to show you his trucks (which I am not sure you can even see because he holds them so close to your face!). He is really starting to take an interest in you these days. He likes to feed you and try to get to you drink his sippy cup, or eat his afternoon snack with him. He also likes to help "burp" you. I think its because he thinks he is getting away with hitting you, although he is pretty gentle about it. He wakes up every morning and wants to know here you are and yells HI BABY! in your face when he finds you. But, he still has his moments. Last week, you were sleeping in my lap and he bit you in the leg...leaving teeth marks. You never even flinched. I am afraid that you are going to be my little bruiser and he is going to pay dearly for all this someday! ;) I am anxious to see how he reacts when you can finally respond to the things he does.
We are so thankful to have been blessed with you and we can't wait to watch you continue to grow and see what God has in store for you and our family.
We love you, sweet boy.
xoxo

Boat Trip 2012

Since we have a boat that has a little more room now, we have been talking about taking a "boat trip" and spending the weekend on the boat as a family. It just so happened last week that we sold our old boat to Brandon's best buddy and "partner in crime", so we decided this past weekend would be the weekend we would both try out our "new" boats!

We left Saturday and headed up to Grand Haven where we stayed the night. The big lake was pretty rough, so we had a long and very wet ride. Getting to that slip couldn't have happened too soon, at least for me!

Playin in the boat while we unpacked
these two have a ball together. they are little buddies and had a great time playing in the sprinkler and on the swingset
Much to my dismay, Bentley figured out quickly how to open the cabinets in the boat too. Thankfully there aren't many, and most were packed with things he couldn't hurt too bad.
Walking downtown.
We are a little spoiled. The new boat has air conditioning, so we spent some time staying cool, too.
Spoiled or not, the AC made for a successful first night of sleep on the new boat. The boys felt like they were right at home. They both woke up once in the night, Harrison for a feeding and Bentley to take inventory and make sure no one had snuck away! :) Waking up once is a total success in my book, especially considering they both slept till 8 am after that!
We headed back Sunday and stopped in Port Sheldon to do some grilling and let the kids play.

By the time we left Port Sheldon, both boys were passed out within minutes.
It was the perfect way to end an awesome weekend with friends!!

Fourth of July 2012

This year we headed out for fireworks on the 3rd of July.

We went by water, with some friends.
Happy 4th of July!
watching with Daddy
tired babes.
Harrison fell asleep just before they started, and slept the whole time.

On Wednesday, we headed to my Gramma's for some fun in the sun with the family!
There is nothing like gramma.
At least not in my book (my gram is my fav!)...and apparently my boys feel the same way!
snoozin in great grams bed
hanging out in the shade trying to stay cool!

Heat Wave 2012

We have been experiencing unseasonably warm temperatures the last week so the boys and I have been staying busy trying to keep cool.

We spent an afternoon at the lake

We went fishing...
with no success.
we cooled off in the lake...
&& we hit the splash pad

He can't be around any form of water without giving it a taste test...

we had picnics....
&& impromptu trips to the ice cream shop.
We played in the ac...
&& we took killer naps. (yes, all three of us)
we established the keeper of the hose...
and enjoyed the good food that warm summer weather brings.
and...
We are thankful it has cooled off a bit!
