{{weekend/rewind}}

We had another fun and busy weekend - it feels good to finally be feeling good and over our snotty noses and constant coughs.
Evie got all prettied up to get out of the house. It's so fun dressing a girl...she gets pretty fancy for no real occasion most of the time. ;)
We grabbed lunch with Wes and Willa and then headed to target for a few things. Bentley thinks because I have a husband, that everyone does...so he calls Wesleigh his husband instead of his wife.  Pretty cute.
We came home for some naps and then I headed out for dinner with my dear friend Kate. Evie cashed right out on her as we chatted. Can't wait to meet her princess in just a few months!
Shes a real girls night trooper! ;)
While I was at dinner the boys hung with Dad at the shop. They LOVE being able to play at his shop and get dirty...especially without mom because dad lets them get away with more dirt than I do! ;)
Harry also came home with a shiner on his forehead that no one seems to know where it came from. They said he never cried...so they didn't see it happen. Men! ;)
Saturday we slept in since they had a late and busy night, and we played and cleaned around the house. I put my play clay skills to work making a river and a burning forest for Bentley to extinquish with his dusty crophopper airplane.
We also played dress up with Pretty and all her sun bathing goodies for florida! We can't wait for some fun in the sun!!
Saturday night we grabbed dinner and saw American Sniper with friends. Amazing movie, must see for sure. The kids had a great time with Casey and Kevin and Evie felt like everything as normal being held all the time. ;) Casey is the best!!
Our sunday was lazy. and full of crabby toddlers. I guess that's what busy weekends do. So we doled out some spankings and indulged in some snuggles, making the best of it.
Heres to Monday, and another busy week! :)

Life with {{3}}

I get the same question an awful lot lately...
"is it harder with three?"

there is not really a simple answer for this question, but being 6 weeks in now, i feel like i can at least write down some sensical notes about what life is like these days.

harder? yes and no
easier? yes and no
different? yes and no

hows that? ;)
let me elaborate.

Life with kids is hard, and sometimes it doesn't seem to matter how many kids. It's busy, its tiring, its demanding, its dirty and its loud. It was that way when we had only Bentley, and it is that way still now. But i honestly don't feel like things have gotten harder since we have added a third.

In fact, some things seem easier. It's easier to stay busy during the day when i'm so tired, that sometimes I don't notice how tired I truly am. It's easier for me to care for Evie than it was for me to care for Harrison. Bentley and Harry were so close in age that Bentley was still very needy and demanding. Now, Bentley helps me with his own needs and demands, and helps me with Harrisons. This has been one of the biggest differences I have noticed. The boys help each other with things, play together, stay busy together and keep each other in check when I can't have my eyes constantly on them. This can also turn 180 and backfire on me really quickly. Since Harry so closely follows Bentley's lead, if Bentley misbehaves, whines/cries or talks back, Harry usually does too.

It is different though, most noticeably. Different for the obvious reasons: one more mouth to feed, more laundry to do, one more bath to give, one more body to dress, and one more person to get out the door on time. But we knew that was coming. What is so different is that sometimes, I completely forget how much time this all takes.
My "me" time is down to zilch. Most days, IF i get a shower before we leave the house, I rock wet hair and minimal makeup. To actually put in the time getting ready and dressed the way I like to be, I have to get around 6 am. Not a big deal, most of the time, but when Evie wakes up to eat at 4, goes back down at 5, and my alarm goes off at 6...well sometimes it is a big deal. Again, I knew this was coming. But until you are in it...there is only so much you can do to mentally prepare yourself for it, at least not for me.
It is also different in the fact that I tried so hard to mentally prepare myself for my time management, the boys time management and everything else, that sometimes i get into such a rhythm that I find it hard to remember what my days were like before Evelyn was a part of them. She seems to fit right in and go with the flow of our craziness.

Im anxious to see how we continue to grow together and how our days continue to transform to meet each others needs, at all times. If anyone is lacking in the attention department lately, it is Daddy. And as a wife, I am praying about way to solve it. :)

{{weekend/rewind}}

After a long week of being sick, and busy with school we hung at home on Friday to clean and sanitize. Mommy is ready to be done with this cold we all have.
Harrison is showing a sudden interest in potty training again so we spent the day running around in the nude (not we, just he!) and worked on going potty. He is doing awesome so far!
We snuck out for dinner Friday night, as we were all ready to get out of the house for a bit, and then came home to watch Gold Diggers (gold rush) before bed.
Saturday we spent all morning at home, cleaning, some more. Daddy and Evie got in a nice morning nap together and the boys helped me with my projects.
We got ready after lunch and went to Sam's club to do some shopping. I love that Evie is growing little by little, so that all the adorable outfits she got as gifts are finally starting to fit!
Saturday night we had some friends over to sled on the hill behind our house, and have dinner. Little Ms. Willa just loves her friend Evie, and is always asking to hold her. She even "babysat" Saturday night. So proud!
Sawyer is about like Harrison right now, hit or miss with showing attention to the babies. But he asked to hold Evie last night too and when I asked him to smile for a pic, he kissed her. So adorable, I can't wait to put this one in her baby book!
In the night (230a) when I got up to feed Evie, the power went out. Thank goodness for neighbors who have the extra hands to call consumers (thanks again sar!) I was warned to add blankets to the boys since Consumers did not have an estimated time of restoration.
 So I brought Evie back to bed with me, added blankets to the boys and went to bed. About 6 the boys came in cuz they were cold, so we ended up 5 deep in our bed...thanks goodness for kings! The power came back on about 7, so we didn't have to pack up to go anywhere.
Because of such a short sleepless night we had a super relaxing Sunday. We have been staying home from church trying to stay healthy, though it hasn't really worked.
We got in lots of snuggles and some good naps, hoping to all start feeling better.
Sunday night/monday morning was much like saturday night...all awake and very short. Evelyn in back to wanting to be held to sleep bc she can't breathe and harrison is coughing like a mad man. Another day home of doing laundry, washing sheets and sanitizing our house!

Daddys {32nd} bday

We celebrated Brandon's birthday this past weekend. Thursday night we made dinner and brownies and celebrated with the kids. The boys and I went to Target and bought him a movie...keeping in tradition with his gift from the boys. They picked out this Dragon movie...so far its been a hit!
I love that Bentley is writing his own name now. I always looked forward to the days that the kids could write their own names in cards, its so special!
Harrison is working on his too...just needs a little more practice ;)
I have finally come to grips with being demoted in the princess heirarchy...Daddy has a new princess at least for now. ;)
Friday night, his actual birthday, we went for dinner with friends.

Then the celebration continued with some post dinner drinks...and tons of laughs. We seriously have the best friends ever.
We spent the rest of our weekend hanging at home with the boys and catching up on sleep as Daddy had had a busy week plowing. We are looking forward to a quiet week and a break from the snow, so we can actually see Daddy's face for more than a few hours here and there! ;)

One month old.

Our sweet Evie girl -
You've been with us just one month so far, and I told Daddy this week that I can honestly hardly remember what life was like before you. I don't know what I did with all the time I had! You are fitting perfectly into this crazy family and life of ours, and we are so in love with you!
You are still wearing newborn clothes and diapers, nursing every 3-4 hours during the day but sleeping 6-8 hours at night. You sleep best on your stomach, even during the day.
Your brothers are starting to love that you are awake longer between feedings, though I am not sure how much you get to see because they are always in your face. You hardly cry except in the bath or carseat, you dont like your carseat much at all.
 You love to be warm, like sweaty warm...snuggling with Daddy is a favorite for you both. And you like to be held. Because mommy holds you all.the.time. #sorrynotsorry
You are starting to notice the tv and search for voices talking to you and starting to grab things if they get close to your hands. Your brothers are sure this means you want to play and they keep trying to hand you toys.
You grunt and groan all the time...we even wake up in the night from your noises coming through the monitor. Its pretty darn cute! :)
We cannot wait to see what the next month (and many more to come) bring.
We love you so much, Tritty!

Happy Birthday to Daddy today toooo....he is 384 months old! ;)

{{weekend/rewind}}

Its been so wonderful to be hanging at home these past few week with all my loves, it was hard to get back to reality an school this morning.

Friday we ventured out and ran some errands, the first time I got out with three kids. But most of our errands were small ones, not like groceries or anything...yet. ;)
We spent the afternoon relaxing. I cant believe how chubby our little princess is getting suddenly!
The boys continue to maul her. I call it mauling, although it is usually pretty gentle affection. They just cant keep their hands off her...tho none of us can!!
Friday night Evie slept from 9p-5a. So refreshing for this momma! I fed her and went back to sleep. Apparently the longer she sleeps, the longer I sleep cuz I scared awake at almost 10 am. Thanks to my awesome hubby for letting me sleep in - I felt like a new woman!
My long night of sleep inspired some serious cleaning and organizing. This drawer was long overdue for some purging and a wipe down.
Saturday night we grilled out with some friends and the kids played. Having three now allows me to take lots less pics when I'm out and about. Maybe soon that will change.
Sunday morning we hung at home. I am too leary of putting the boys in nursery at church yet, because I dont want anyone to get sick. Although with being back to school this week, that may just not matter. :S
Bentley and I ventured out before lunch for some groceries. I love our special times together.
He spent most of his time walking through Meijer on this "phone" talking to his brother about "work". They don't like being apart for long!
Special outings with mommy usually equal a treat. This day it happened to be Culvers custard. MMM!
Sunday night we headed to my parents for dinner, as they leave today for Florida for the season. Jett was one month Sunday, and Evie will be on the 9th. It's so fun to compare and watch them grow together.
He crowned himself "Grammas little princess!" goofy boy.
Thank goodness for a sleeping daddy this morning, we didn't have to haul Evie with us to school. It is SEVEN degrees out only!!! We are looking forward to getting back into a routine this week, and celebrating Daddy's birthday this weekend. :) Have a great week, friends!

Whats in a name...

Neither of the boys have a super significant meaning behind the names we chose for them; they were both just names we really liked.
Bentley's middle name is Ivan, which was Brandon's great grandpa Posma.
Harrison's middle name is Lee, which is after Brandon's grandpa Posma.
Other than their middle names being Posma family names, there is no other real significance.
We held and stared at both boys, for literally hours, after their births to make sure the names we had picked out for them were just what we wanted. We are weird and like to see what they look like. Bentley was about 4 hours old before we decided he was going to be a Bentley (and recovered from the shock of having an emergency c section) and Harrison was just an hour old. We knew he was a Harry from the moment we laid eyes on him.

Evelyn was no different, really.
We tossed around the idea of naming her Elizabeth, which is a family name on my side, but didn't like any of the shortened versions of the name (ie: Liz..Betsy..).
Brandon had always said he loved the name Evelyn, which was also in the running...but of course we wanted to see what she looked like first. So again, she was "baby girl Posma" most of her early hours of life. We finally decided that she did look like an Evie.
She is the first granddaughter for both sides, and my grandma's first great granddaughter, after eight boys.

My Grandma and I have always had a very special relationship. When I was just a toddler, my parents moved to Arizona, and my Gramma left everything behind to move with my mom to live with us there. My weekends growing up were spent at Gramma's...for sleepovers, sewing lessons, playing and morning coffee that she sweetened for me with milk. As I grew up we remained close, and continually grow closer to this day.
Picking a middle name for Evelyn was quite a no brainer for us.
We chose Beth, after my Grandma.

We wanted a name that was special to us and had strong family meaning, like the boys' middle names.
I hope that Evelyn will grow to know and love her Great Grandma just as much as I do. and I hope that Great Grandma will know just how much she is loved, too.
