Spring break 2014

Since we did our "spring break" travels earlier in the winter season, we had no where special to go and nothing on the calendar. I decided to make a mental promise to myself to go "hands free" as much as possible for spring break, and spend time on and with my boys. 100%.
I also made a verbal promise to my husband that I wasn't going to let the kids watch Frozen 3 times a day, every day. It was time we found some other things to do, and do together, while focusing on one another. This never ending winter weather seems to have us all in a lazy funk!

That being said, we soaked up every chance we could to do something fun and different together.
Here are some of the other fun things we did together, besides our big day in the Windy City!

we took our first Capt Sundae trip of the year, it was an impromptu  trip in our jammies before bed.
We skipped naps, once, to enjoy the gorgeous sunny weather!
We had a lunch date at Russ' and the boys had fun with the touchscreen ordering.
they even got extra big chocolate milks - with NO lids!
We went to Paint a Pot, for the first time.
Harrison picked out a horse, which he painted one side of, and the proceeded to paint his jeans, arms, and the table. He had a great time, thanks to the sweet girl who works there that was so patient and kind!
Bentley picked a dinosaur and painted the opposite of his brother. By the time we left and he was done, there was paint literally dripping from the head and tail. He definately got our money's worth! ;)
we had some rainy days that called for indoor play dates with friends!
we celebrated Casey and her 21st birthday, while the boys had their first non-gramma sleepover with Uncle Knappy, Aunt Bitty and Foster.
We spent time at the farm riding bikes around the circle!

we finally at lunch at Target one day -- the boys ask to all the time!
We saw our first movie in the theatre together!
we wanted to see the Lego movie but it wasn't playing in holland, so we chose Mr. Peabody and Sherman instead.
Harrison was super intimidated by the huge room and huge screen.
but he sat surprisingly still.
we checked out the new indoor farmer's market in Grand Rapids.
and enjoyed some of the best mexican food ever, there for lunch.
we unearthed our sand toys and spent many hours in the sandbox.
we also put some miles on the gator. the boys could go forever on that thing!
We sure enjoyed our extra time together, doing special things and making the most of every minute - but being out of routine is such a change for us. I am excited for school and to get back into our normal rhythm.
Hope everyone enjoyed their time off as well! xo
